Hello,

I am running an Onstream ADR 50 Drive off an Adaptec SCSI Card 29160 with two hard drives connected to that SCSI card also. I am using ArcServe IT 5.5 and most times I run a differential backup it "fails on compare" with the following error messages usually:

The operation has stopped because data can not be written to the drive.
The tape is damaged or the drive is faulty.

We have taken in the drive and had the whole unit replaced still to find no joy - performing the same. Is it possible that it should run off its own SCSI card? We would like to save the expense of purchasing one to find out if it is that and to find it doesn't fix it anyway.

Thanks,
David

Yup, the drive should be off of it's own scsi card.

Why don't you get a place to lend you a scsi card to see if it works?

Remember that the tapedrive should be off it's own scsi card and have similar speed devices on the chain.

Your speed only goes as fast as the slowest dvice on the chain.
