I see that you can no longer can a silver PCMCIA remote/backup, without paying the extra BIG bucks. Is there anyway to format the green PCMCIA, to use as a plain backup card? This would be helpful if it becomes necessary to replace ACS R6. Thank you.

What makes you think it needs to be formatted? It IS a backup card just stick it in!

I have several expired green cards from previous deinstalls. When I insert them into, for instance an ACS R6, I get an "Incompatible card" message. When I receive a refurbished ACS R6 processor, it comes with the familiar green card, which plays nice with the R6 and allows me to backup to it. That is the reason I believe that it needs to be formatted.

What do you mean by "expired", used? If they were from an ACS they should work in any other ACS unless of course they are defective. I have lots of them around too and use them the same way and never had a problem. No such thing as formatting.

Thank you for the response; by "expired" I mean that it has been used to bring up a R1.0.1 ACS. I did have a chance a try another green PCMCIA card, and it worked. So I guess I the other card was probably defective. Live and learn.
