Backup OWA 2003 with Ghost?

With Exchange 5.5, I backed up my separate OWA server once a month by making an offline image of the disk using Ghost.

Now, my Exchange 2003 OWA is also my front end server, but there are no mailboxes on it. Will an offline ghost image backup of the disk work in this more complex environment?

(I am using Veritas to backup my backend server, but a ghost image was such an easy & sure way to back up OWA in the past, I would like to keep doing that.)

If it is simply a front-end server, that may be overkill. Just make sure you have a good system-state backup. If the worst happens, re-building a Front-End server is a snap.

I agree. Take a good system state backup, and you should be good. You'll only need to update the info when the server changes, such as after updates are installed.

I will go another way and suggest you get a copy of ShadowProtect from Storage Craft.

It can run as a service to backup changes when needed and makes restoration super easy. You could fully restore the server in less time than it would take to reload the OS.
