If you wanted to do a full backup and clear the transaction logs at virtually the same time, is it better to do a transaction log backup first then do a full backup?

My thinking is that if you clear the tlog (tlog backup) and then a do a full backup, the time between the backup would be covered (if seccussful) by the full backup.

But if you do the full then the tlog, at some later point you might need to recover that tlog just to cover the small length of time between the two.

Thanks

Simi

You can run transaction log backups while the full backup is running. Full backups are consistent as of the backup job finishing.
