backup operator stations with voicemail?

I have a site with 1 QCC operator (primary) & 2 DLCs (backup positions). I need to have the 2 DLC positions to have voicemail but, when I give them coverage to VM their mailboxes start answering incoming calls. How can I give them voicemail without their mailboxes answering the lines?

Make sure all of your voicemail ports are not set to AA(autoattendant). Also make sure you have the voicemail set to delayed answer. Check number of rings for VM cover.
