hi, i want to create a user solely as a backup operator. what should be the recommended rights and groups of a backup operator?

thanks,

That differs on what he has to backup, if it is to backup the system with an mksysb or just some directories and files.

For files and directories a r-x would be ok so he can also change the directories. For an mksysb install and configure sudo from so that he may use it without smit. Or maybe keep mksysb's on 1 day per week as a cronjob. If there aren't too many changes in the rootvg, i think that would be totally sufficient.
