Backup Open File Agent doesn't start

The Registration has been succesfully completed, but it still won't work. The service also refuses to start. Why?

If this Arcserve2000 or BrightStor Arcserve 9.0
This is normally happen because of licensing check the folder c:\ca_lic\lic98.log if there an occurance related to Open file agent.

Have you tried to restart the service from the services

Note:the location of ca_lic folder is not same as BrightStor Arcserve 9.0

Hi,

I forgot to tell that I am using Arcserve 2000.
In the logfile you described there is this line a lot of times:

Tue Wed 17 13:34:17 2002 - Computer Associates Licensing -3WCF - Can't open license file. Please run the appropriate license program to properly license your product. LRF=3WCF, c0515bdc4e44, PC_686_2_1258, NL-ASD-EXCHANGE, 0

(note the date, the above is an old error, none of these are for 2003!)

And when I run the license program it tells me this:

07/22/03 14:42:03 RegIT (Online): ARCserve 2000 Backup Agent for Open Files for NT/2000 This product has been successfully registered. However, you have exceeded the licensing limits for this product and it has been logged to Computer Associates! (rc = 7)

And then still the error shows up as above. The service won't start. (So restarting won't help).

The registeration hasn't been completed sucessfully
the error you are getting mean you are trying to register
the product more than once and this not allowed you need to

contact Eur.tlc@ca.com and inform them about the error you are getting and asked them to remove your info from their database and then try to reregsiter it again.

as a workaround now run RegIT.exe and click on Register later ,using this procedure your Back agent for open file will work fine ,BUT you will be getting error in windows Enevt viewer requesting to Regsiter your product.

When you get confirmation from EUR.TLC that your old info had been removed go back and register your product using the normal way.

The register later option worked, but the service still won't start. I'll send an e-mail to that address and see what they say.

Register later should work without any problem and you need to email that email only when you want to register with CA database.
Make sure you register the correct product,check c:\ca_lic\lic98.log if still giving license errors after you have done regsiter later.

I think you are not registering the correct product

I only have one product and there is only one serial key for it, so that can't be the case. There must be something else.
