Backup on system is old message

I have recevied a message that says "backup on system is old." When I click OK I receive the following options:

1) uninstall windows XP
2) remove the backup of my previous system

What does it mean and what should I do?

Is that the exact message, what were you doing to generate such a strange message?

At the moment this is all that is coming to mind.
