Going through the Cognos, I read how to use the scheduler to kick off a new cube monthly, but I want to keep a back up of the old cube. Is there a way to backup the cube that is there first before building the new cube and I lost the last data?

I could not find anything other than building or refreshing the cube on the scheduler.

thanks in advance.

Nothing included in the product, but you could write a simple batch file that either copies the cube or renames it. This batch file could be run before the cube is updated.

Was hoping for something in the product, but great idea. that will have to be my only alternative then.
Thanks for the tip.

Well, they do have PPAMTOOL commands to accomplish this (disable cube from PPES, allow the cube to be overwritten, and then ENABLE it again) but it's easier to build to a different location and then copy it over with a batch file.

The ppadmtool is use in conjuction with publishing or unpublishing cubes to upfront. The cube will have to be built with transformer and then you can publish it to upfront thru the GUI or by command line with use of the ppadmtool.
