Backup of Files?

Hi,
After a Systemcrash while writing to disk, the textfile was unreadable. Unfortunatly the 'backup' option was not checked. Therefore a few weeks work was lost.
Does anybody know, if, and if, where, OpenOffice keeps a backup somewhere.
