I'm a programmer and our hardware/network support team has started to use 'VERITAS BACKUP EXEC Version 8.5' (running on a Windows NT server with SQL server 7.0). Having set the system to backup databases (including filegroups) the previous couple of evenings the log file generated on completion is indicating that 'backup log is not allowed when "trunc.log on chkpnt"' option is enabled. However the book as supplied with the software is indicating that this option needs to be enabled for the software to operate.
Are we missing something or is there a misprint in the documentation ?
Do we need to disable the "trunc.log on chkpnt" option against the databases we are to include in the backup schedule ?

Thanks in advance
Steve

I don't believe you need to include the filegroups in the backup selection. They get backed up within the database backup. Run a test job w/o them selected.
