I was able to backup exchange 5.5 server using Backup exec version 8.0, however after migrating to a new Exchange 2003 server, Backup exec could not backup mailboxes, or even Information Store. I always get the "Attach" dialog box. I have Outlook installed and able to connect to the server. I installed Exchange Management Tools at the Backup exec server and I'm able to connect to the server and administer
I tried all the following solutions without success:
1- regservr32 c:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\Bin\cdo.dll
2- I added the service account (used for login to the Backup exec server and for all Backup exec services) to the "Domain Admins", "Backup Operators", "Exchange Service Accounts"
3- I Delegated Control to that account to all the "First Administrative Group" with all permissions including Send As and Receive As
4- The service account name and mailbox is so unique from the first character
5- The mailbox for the service account is initialized and I sent and received mail through it
6- I replaced all old MAPI32.DLL files with new one
7- I enabled debug through sgmon and all I got is "MAPIAdminSession::LoadUsers((): WARNING! No Users Found for this site!"
I gave up!! I scheduled NTBackup at the Backup exec server to take backup for the remote Exchange 2003 server and store the backup sets locally where they will backed to the tape.
However, I still prefer the brick-level backup of mailboxes and wonder if there is anything left to try.
