Hi,

I did a full backup of the database using Maintenance plan. I tried to open the backup generated using Excel. Now every time the db backup occurs it is in excel. When i open it, it has some weird characters.

My question is my db backup still safe because the file format is now saved in excel. If not how do i make it to save in the default file format.

Thanks

Dwight

OPen the folder where bak file is located.
Goto Menu, Select Tools==>Folder Options==>File Type==>
Select the BAK Extensions from Registerd File Types and delete it, Click OK
Then Exit the folder, go back and look how the backup file looks like.
