What is the easiest way to back up my network setting on my Win XP Pro machine. I want to experiment with some other network settings and I can't always get back to my orginal setup without alot of trial and error.

Thanks!

pen and paper usually work for me.

what settings would you like to back up?
- ip configuration?
- dialup connections?
- shared folders?

Use the Netsh.exe utility to do a dump of your settings. You can then later do a Netsh restore if you need to. This is a great way to handle setting TCP/IP parameters and values for different network settings.

Daniel Petri has a nice little tutorial:
Note: Daniel's site is being re-organized, if you get an error message page from the link above, just click on that page Knowledge Base, Tips and Tricks, Tweaks, and look for "Configure TCP/IP from the command line."
