After purchasing BackupMyPC to replace Backup Exec, I installed the software to find that it would not open and run. When I clicked the Backup icon, an hourglass curser indicated it was opening, but soon the curser returned to the regular pointer and the machine just sat there... Backup MyPC would not actually open up. I contacted the Veritus people and eventually received a reply inciating that I should delete all references in the Registry and delete a configration file somewhere in the WINNT folder (Windows 2000) and then reinstall. That worked.

Two months later, after installing several updates to other programs and installing a few new items, I tried to initiate a backup and it's suddenly not working, it did the same thing again. The hourglass comes on for about 5 seconds and goes off,...That's it.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the program with the same results. I cannot remember the name of the file and I cannot find the eMail message that indicated which file was the configuration file in the WINNT folder, which I was to delete the last time. Can someone please tell me what to do, and perhaps suggest how to avoid this situation in the future??
