I have a Modular messaging 3.0 & I'm trying to backup to a ftp server.
In Remote Storage Configuration, I select the following:
Backup Mode: FTP
Host Name:(I enter IP address of FTP server)
User Name: A (created on FTP server)
Directory: C:\Program Files\Backup

I keep getting a message; Directory must contain a valid path.

What does it want for the Directory field?

Thanks!!

the directory must be on the FTP server and you would need to put it in as \\servername\directory

I'm using a laptop with FTP running on it and have created a folder on the C: drive "Backup" so I would enter the following in the Directory field

Directory: \\ftp\c:\Backup

Is this correct?

Thanks!

Host Name : Enter the host name or IP address of the remote server to which you want to transfer files during a backup. This field is required and there is no default. If you enter a host name that is not a fully qualified domain name (FQDN), you must enter the domain in the Search Order field on the Network Addressing page

User Name: the user name or ID required to connect with the remote storage server. This user must be administered with write permission to the directory on the remote server before you complete this page. This field is required and there is no default.

Directory : Enter the name of the directory on the remote storage server to which you want the files transferred during a backup. This directory must be administered on the remote server before you complete this page. This field is required and there is no default. Only alphanumeric characters, underscores, and dashes are allowed.

One thing Avaya's documentation doesn't tell you is that a forward slash is needed in the directory field.
Even though it says only alphanumeric, underscores and dashes are allowed.

Example:

/foldername
