I'm running Windows 2000 and Windows ME in a dual boot, using the Windows 2000 boot loader. I am trying to back up my MBR to a floppy. Anyone know how to do this
Thanks

I found a freeware utility at:

it's called Ntfsreader for Dos. While this utility will allow you to read and copy from an NTFS disk to any FAT disk, the utility that does the MBR backup is called "uneraser.exe". Use the "ntfsfloppysetup.exe" to create a disk in your A:\ use it to boot, wait for the utility to start, exit it using "Esc" key. Then at the prompt type: uneraser /? to find the commands for backingup/restoring the MBR. I tried it and it seems to do what it says, however the "uneraser.exe" is a demo only but it says it will backup/restore the MBR. In the readme it states that the demo version only has certain abilities disabled but not the MBR portion.

You could probably just download the "uneraser.exe" but the "NTFSreader" seems like such a good utility you might as well get it all!

Cheers
