Backup Jopb Fails w/ no errors

Hi,

I'm running Arcserve 2000 SP4 on a W2k server w SP3. Randomly It'll fail backup with no errors? Anyone else has experienced this? It's on a GFS rotation M-F Full backup.

This is from the log:

Run Backup job
Start Operation
Tape engine formatting Media
format successful
** Summary for job **
0 Sessions
0 Directories 0 files backed up to media
0 kb written to media
Elapsed time: 0s
Average throughput 0 km/min
Backup Operation failed
Reschedule Backup job.


That's it. No explanation of why it fails and the first session is scheduled to back itself up. Backup does happen often than not. It's just random that it does this. There was no Network problem or server problems at the time either.

Any suggestions?

Have u checked the device group settings in arcserve manager? If any are set.

Hi,

It's a 10 slot library and all the slots are assigned to the default group0.

Yes, I'm sure there are no error messages. That's the confusing part. The only thing in the log is what I've indicated above and I've even looked through the event viewer with no luck.

Have you tried re-running a backup to the same tape?

No, I have not tried that. I'll be sure to give it a try. I ruled out the tape being bad since it said format was successful on the tape. But anything goes....

Hi

Can you do to the failed job and find the number of errors found
since you didin't tell us about this part

To get more info about this problem
From server admin put the Job Engine & tape Engine in Debug mode
and check if it give any errors.
