Backup Job does not run but shows "Failed"

Hi,

We have a schedulaed backup job that run every night @ 11:15pm. This job runs nighty and resched's to the next night after job completion. We had a tape drive go bad in this machine and since then the job does not execute at all. It doesn't resched and it shows a "Failed" in the last result field. the Activity log shows absolutey nothing concerning this job. Its like the job engine does not even attempt to run this job.

Any ideas?

Please post any detials you may need in order to help troubleshoot this.

I have restarted all the engines and the tape drive is in the correct media pool. From what i can tell everything looks fine in the job. Nothing was changed in this job besides the new tape drive.

Modify the job and re-select the device group again, then resubmit the job. It sounds like you had the drive selected in the job rather than the device group meaning that because it's no longer there (different ID/Serial number) it can't find a device to write to. Modifying, selecting the device group, and re-submitting the job should sort this out.
