I have backup exec 8.0 running on win2000 server. I am getting the following error:

Storage device "Seagate 1" reported an error on a request to write data to media.
Error reported:
Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

It happens intermittently. It is OK for a few days then gets errors again. media problem? tape driver problem? or software/driver problem? anyone has any idea?

Hi

Usually this means that you have some sort of hardware problem. Check the following. Look for Event ID's 9 or 11. These are typical hardware errors. Check Microsoft Q article Q314093. Also you may want to check Tape Drivers or SCSI drivers. Another way to determine the cause is to try Windows 2000 Backup. This will eliminate either software or hardware.

Regards,
