I am looking for a good way to backup by home PC. It runs Windows 2000 Professional and has a 40 GB Hard Drive which is about half full. I recently purchase a Maxtor USB External 40 GB Hard Drive hoping to use it with Ghost but it won't work because PC Dos used with Ghost does not have the drivers for the Drive. I don't want to use my CD Writer for this as it is too time consuming etc.

What about the Windows 2000 Backup Utility or is there something else I can use?

You can setup Windows backup to use a share on the second HDD as the destination. Also, once you create the share and map the NTBackup.exe to it, make sure you also select the option to overwrite the existing file, otherwise you'll find yourself out of existing disk space almost immediately. I would think that for a home machine, you would only ever need to run full backups. If you're looking for a way to setup differentials, and incrementals as well, you could still use your second hdd as the destination, but it definitely becomes a bit more cumbersome.
