Hi all,

i have a cisco call manager 6.0 with a gateway h323 (cisco 2811) connected to the pstn via an ISDN PRI.
Now i have configured another gateway h323 with a cisco 2620xm connected to the pstn via an ISDN BRI.
My purpouse is to use this second gateway as a backup, either the first gateway goes down or the ISDN PRI link goes down.
The first goal is simple to achive by configuring the hsrp between the two gateway.
That i can't do is the second goal. In other words if the ISDN PRI goes down i would like the calls routed to the backup gateway and so via the isdn BRI.
Is there someone who can help me?

Thanks all.

Are both PRI's up and functional? If so just add them both to the same route group in call manager. That way they will both be active.

Thanks for the answer.
Now when i try to create a route group, in the section "Find Devices to Add to Route Group", i find no devices to add in.

Do you know what is the reason? I have 3 Gateway H323 configured!!!; i don't understand why?!?!?!?.

Help me...

Thanks.

Do you have the Gateways configured directly in your Route Patterns? If so, that is one reason why they can't be added to a Route Group.

Oh, thank you very much.
As soon as i arrive at office i try this setting, but i think you're right...thank you.

Hi,
I created the route group adding the two gateways (primary and backup), with a "TopDown" distribution algorithm, that's to say first choice Primary Gateway, and second choice Secondary Gateway, but if i shut down the serial interface of the Primary, the call manager doesn't choose the backup gateway, that is what i want.
Have you any idea?
Thank you very much, have you a good day.

it's h323, call manager has no idea if the circuit is up or not. You need to do that on the router itself, using dial-peers and preferences.

Yes,

I know that I need the mgcp to control the pri via the call manager, but i would know what command or service to use in dial peers to redirects automatically the calls to another gateway when the pri goes down.
Have you some example?

Thank you in advance.

Reading closer I see that you have the PRI and BRI on different routers so I see your issue.
Try this on the 2800 and this is an example:

Existing dial-peer:
dial-peer voice 1 pots
destination-pattern 9T
port x/x/x:23 (your PRI port)
preference 1

Create new dial peer:
dial-peer voice 2 voip
destination-pattern 9T
session target ipv4:x.x.x.x (ip address of the 2600 rtr)
preference 2

the preference will allow the call to go out the PRI but if it is busy or out of service it should pick the 2nd dial-peer as a second preference.

Thank you all so much,
I feel so stupid for not having thought of first. I try the configuration as soon as i return at office, and let you know, but for now thank you very much.

Yes,

it was as you said.
I created the dial-peers just as I was suggested by whykap, and now the backup is functioning very well.
Thank you all vary much, You were very, very precious...
