Two backup questions
We have Veritas Backup Exec 8.60 Server edition

Q1. When backing up the sql databases it shows the files are in use which they are and are skipped (.mdf, .ldf, .ndf files). Is there anyway around this. Access files are shown as in use but are NOT skipped.

Q2. We have four domain controllers. One in each of our four sites. Is it possible to replicate our files to each others without bogging down the network bandwidth. We would like to do this as a disaster recovery precaution. What is the best way for this?

1) Backup Exec 8.6 is no longer supported and doesn offere support for Latest Version of SQL or 2003.

2) You will need the SQL agent option to backup the SQL database. So you always see them skipped. You can use Enterprise manager to run SQL dumps to disk then backup the sql backup files

3) Q2 - No again your using a product that is way out of date. You can use Windows DFS to replicate some data. Other than that Backup Exec 11d CPS option will allow you replication across wan/lan links and you can throttle the bandwith. This requires a windows 2003 sever with disk space at your corporate office (CPS)

Thanks I will get an update on my back exec. software which will solve my issues.
