Hello,

Out of the blue our callpilot 5.0 stopped backing up to both disk and tape. The following error is what we receive... It looks like it is stating that there is not enough room on the tape... but it's a 21.1 GB file backing up to a 75 GB tape. I have tried multiple tapes.

130303 1021 - Item 'D:\Nortel\Data' has been backed up successfully.
130303 1024 - Database successfully stored.
130303 1024 - Item 'E:\Nortel\Database' has been backed up successfully.
130303 1034 - Error: There is not enough space on the disk.
130303 1034 - Writing file failed. The backup item
130303 1034 - Warning: Backup Item F:\VS1V failed.
130303 1034 - The backup item
130303 1034 - Item 'F:\VS1' has not been backed up due to failure (error: 41828).
130303 1034 - A fatal error (41828) occured during the backup. The backup operation will be cancelled.
130303 1034 - Item 'System Backup' has not been backed up due to failure (error: 41828).
130303 1034 - The backup of 'Full System Backup (CSCAPPOVR002)' failed.

This is the tail end of the backup history with the associated error. Any help is appreciated.

Have a look at the Backup / restore on your CP.

On the first window, there is a small but very important option there that states:

Overwrite or append...... I am guessing that you have append marked.

That's not the issue unfortunately. I was able to get a clean network backup by mapping it to another server. I have no idea why the tape backup is still failing though.

Anyone else have any ideas as to why the tape backup would be failing now? It's stating that there is not enough space on the tape but it's a 75 gig tape that has been formatted before each backup try. The backup file is about 21.1 GB...

Thanks

also need to make sure you are using your cleaning tape. I have had backups fail to tape because of a dirty drive. A couple of cleanings and they started working again.

Thanks,

I got a new tape drive from our vendor and replaced it. All is well now.
