Backup fails during verification 1

Whenever I run a normal backup set (full backup),
I require min. 2 tapes. The backup runs fine requesting
tapes as it sees fit. However when I place the first tape back into the drive for the verification process, I get a backup failure and the job is imcomplete.

1) Does this error preclude me from restoring from these tapes?
2) Is this a software or hardware problem?

I currently run WinNT 4, BUE 7.3, with a Sony SDT S5000
tape device.

Note: When using only one tape, the error is nonexistant.

Are you running 2 drives or an autoloader?

No autoloader.
Only one tape drive.

this wasn't a problem until we increased our data
drive on the network threefold!

There is a log file generated for each job. Double click the job, go to the log file tab and it will tell you the file name (be???.txt). Go to x:\bkupexec\data and you will see the file.
