ANALYSIS:
BusinesSuite Module for SQL Server 1.0
Microsoft SQL Server 6.5/Service Pack 3
Legato NetWorker Client 4.4 - Windows NT 4.0/Service Pack 3
The DBCC (Database Consistency Checker), nsrdbcc.exe, runs by default during a
BusinesSuite Module for SQL Server backup. DBCC is enabled within the
nsrsql.bat script, and its functionality applies to SQL server 6.0 and SQL
server 6.5.
The DBCC fails under the following conditions:
1) The client's "Save set" field is set to "MSSQL:"
MSSQL: is a special save set that always does a full backup of all
databases.
If you use MSSQL: as your save set, and DBCC is enabled within nsrsql.bat, the
DBCC error is returned when a backup attempt is made.
2) The client's "Save set" field is set to a specific database.
The DBCC error may indicate corruption or some other problem with the SQL
database.
The DBCC error applies only to BusinesSuite Module for SQL Server version 1.0.
The BusinesSuite Module for SQL Server version 2.x does not run the Database
Consistency Checker.
SOLUTION:
To resolve the DBCC issue, select the resolution that applies to your
situation:
1. Client's "Save set" field is set to MSSQL
To fix this issue, DISABLE the call to DBCC within nsrsql.bat.
To disable the database consistency checker, edit the nsrsql.bat file. Comment
out all parameters that set DBCC options.
Before you run a backup using MSSQL: as the save set name, you must edit
nsrsql.bat to disable the call to sqlmaint.exe or nsrdbcc.exe. After the backup,
you must run the database consistency check manually. (NetWorker BusinesSuite
Module for Microsoft SQL Server Administrator's Guide, page 30)
2. Client's "Save set" is set to a specific database
Run the DBCC separately.
If the DBCC fails, then the problem is outside of NetWorker, and may indicate
corruption or some other problem with the SQL database. Contact your SQL
administrator for issue related specifically to SQL server.
