My domain server backup has failed the past two nights. This is the error I have been getting:

The media provided to continue the backup already contains data from one or more sets created during this operation.
The operation can not be continued.

what does this mean, and how do I fix it?

Sounds like your back up tape is too full to backup your data. Check you are overwriting the tape rather than appending the info to the tape.

(Assuming that is what you want to do!).

I have also seen this error on tapes that are going bad (the tapes cannot be erased). If you are overwriting the tapes and are still getting the error, clean the tape drive and try using new tapes.

Failing that, you may have a bad tape drive itself.

James P.
