Backup Exec

We are using Backup Exec v8.60. The backup process backs up several servers from one main backup server. One of the servers being backed up runs a process which hangs when the backup starts on that server. I would like to be able to stop the process before the backup starts then when the backup is complete start the process again. I could create a scheduled job to stop and start the process but this is not ideal. I would rather link the restart to the backup completeing on the server, would also need to restart even if the backup failed for any reason. Would this be possible and if so how?
