I posted a thread about how to retrive a veritas tape backup. The reply was that, I should reinstall veritas, Perform the following, Inventory, catalog and restore but i doesn't work. What i notice was that the there difference in the tape drive, can that be the cause? i was using Dell poweredge 2600 and Dell Poweredge 2800 and veirtas version 8.6.

I need to retrieve this data can u please help?

What error do you get. If the backup was taken with any version of Veritas you could install 10.x.

Hello steve, I still have the 8.6 which i want to use on a win2003 platform. So when i try to run the device configuaration this is the error (The version of backup utility relies on drivers that might not be compatible with version of Window updated drivers is available at http:\seer.support.veritas.com\docs\242074)

That is the error message

8.6 is not supported on WIndows 2003

It will function, just not reliably, and of course, it isn't supported. Also, if you do manage to get 8.6 installed, the free patch upgrade will not function on 2003.

Thanks very much, does it mean when i install on a win2000 platform Dell Poweredge 2600 i can solve this problem.
