We needed a bigger tape, so we got a 20gb one, but it still thinks it is 10gb. it doesn't say on the tape that its 10/20 gb or anything like other threads have described. Running identify on the tape shows it to be 10gb, but it is supposed to be 20gb. What can we do?? :(

I suspect that yout tape drives native capacity is 10Gb or 20 compressed, however you cant put a 20/40 tape into it and expect it to work. Its down to tape length and the number of tracks on the actual tape.

Basically if you want to use a 20/40Gb capacity tape, you need to upgrade the drive.

Whats your tape drive model and the 20Gb tape type (eg TR5) do you have?
