A. How do you Format a 30/70dlt tape to hold 70 gig of data??
B. The backup's are 40gig , but it stops at 35gig. We are Overwriting not appending. Compression is set on software and tape drive. Today's backup stopped at 20gig.. We are Overwriting not Appending

It will only hold 70GB is the data is perfect for compression. Realistically expect 48GB.

If you are backing up 40GB of uncompressed data from your server and it always stops at 35GB on a 35GB drive the job probably has no compression set. There are several places you need to set the compression.

I would greatly appreciate if you could inform me on where I can set the compression at?? Thakn you..

I don't believe you can specify compression level. You prettyh much only get to choose Hardware or Software compression.

These choices can be made from within the job definitions.

As said, you set either yes or no. The data determines how much compression you'll get...
