Just joined thanks...

Backup Exec Version 8.60 Rev 3878.

BE 8.6 SAN option, Remote Agents 8.6, SQL Agent 8.6. Cannot view the SQL Server databases in the selection area for the backup job. Backup service account has full admin and SA (SQL) access to the database servers in question. I have 5 SQL Server 2000 Servers experiencing the same issue.

Have tried rebooting the BE and the SQL servers and reinstalled the remote agents once already. Tried Hotfix 3 and 4 which were found from the Veritas web site.

Might seem to be a dumb question, but:

Are the backup servers and the SQL Servers on the same network? Can you PING the SQL Server from the backup server?

Problem corrected. Evidently there is a glitch or something with the user defined selections. To keep from scrolling the whole AD Forrest for our domain and then selecting individual servers, I had added the servers to User defined selections, which did not show all resources IE SQL Server or System State for Windows 2000.

Once I browsed for the resources the long way the resources were displayed as expected.

Thanks
