Hello,

I have 1 backup exec NSE master and want to install backup exec servers onto 3 clusters reporting to this master. all machines are attached to a san and are sharing a library, SSO will be installed.

Firstly how do you install BENT on the clusters so its NSE and a clustered resource?

Secondly as NSE master manages the jobs and resource handling will the data be sent over the network or the fibre channel, do veritas have any docs?

Cheers

Hi
When you use NSE to install BE to the cluster nodes it is twice a single node installation. If you back up a cluster resource you must choose the network instance of the cluster alias. In the policy window you can check if it is a cluster resource or not. The backup starts on the node where the cluster resource is online. This you can prove by opening the installation of BE on this particular node. When the installation of the NSE Clients is correct a NSE warning message pops up when you open the BE installation on the cluster node. Therefore backup and restore streams over the fibre channel. Hope that helps.

On a recent NSE install pushing BE out onto clusters, we had to stop the clustering service on the node we were installing to before BE would install. Something to note if you run into problems.
