V-79-57344-34110 - AOFO: Initialization failure on: "Shadow?Copy?Components". Advanced Open File Option used: Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).
VSS Snapshot error. The volume or snapped volume may not be available or may not exist. Check the configuration of the snapshot provider, and then run the job again.
The following volumes are dependent on resource: "C:" .

I am getting this error on my backups, constantly. I am having issues trying to decrypt what it means, Symantec has been absolutely 0 help on this issue since they have nothing in their knowledge base, and I have been told it isn't a valid error message, but yet it is in my logs for my backups.

Thank you for any help you can lend me.

What is the operating system of the resource you are getting the error from? 2K, 2K3, etc.

I received this error message once a long time ago. Same thing, no help from the Veratas KB. I traced mine down to the selection list, evidentially I had a duplicate entry for the server I was trying to backup. And, the second entry was happening after the AOFO had been closed by the first entry. What I did was to make a new selection list and made sure that everything was happening in the order it was supposed to. Also, check to make sure that the AOFO option is included when you installed the remote agent on those servers.

Check those two things and see what happens, let us know.

Regards,
David.
