When doing a backup i get an error that states "\home\rriggs\exchange\rriggs.pst| is a corrup file. This file cannot verify. After investigation we found out that Backup Exec will not copy open files such as ".pst". Does anyone know a work around or a pluggin to copy data that is open but not in use.

You could try the AOFO (Advanced Open Files Option) agent for Backup Exec, I believe this should work.

If it doesn't leak oil it must be empty!!

Backup Exec can't work with open PST Files. There are also many problems with the AOFO!!!

The only way is to use the Volume Shadow Components from Windows Server 2003, or to close the outlook...

Yeah it can - have a few customers who use AOFO to successfully backup open pst files.

justin2000,
Yes, it does not show an error when you backup the open PST files. But did you also tryed to restore one of them? We had a big issue with Veritas concerning this. I talked also to many adv. tech engineers from Veritas which told me that there is no guarantee that you can use your data after a restore... Note: Everything will get better with v10 ;)

I had to recreate the Exchange database in 5.5 and restore all mailboxes using Veritas 8.5 sbs. That went well except that the calanders did not restore. I tried to restore only the calanders and the job completes successfully but no appointments actually appear.

Any help on getting my calanders back is greatly appreciated.

Yep I have restored PST files before - never had an issue with it.

Just thinking how it would get better with v10 :)....
