Puzzeled,

SBS 4.5 with Varitas Backup exec. Backup has been happening without any problems. Suddenley an error is reported:

'Unable to attach to \\server_name\microsoft exchange mailboxes. Access denied'

Anybody able to help. I've looked in the usual places for a clue but can't find anything

Derek

Usually caused by changing the password of the account BE uses. Or caused by changing permissions for the containers in Exchange.

Check both of these and it'll be one of them.

Doh! I remembered after I sent the post that I changed the admins password before the overnight back up as it was due for a password change anyway.

So I suppose what needs to be done is the password needs to be changed in the Backup exec services?

Thanks for the memory nudge though

Derek

Yeah that is exactly it. A better way to do it is to have a BE account that is only used by BE and has a 15 letter password with caps, lowercase, numbers and punctuation. Then you don't need to be on the ball to change the password every week...

question is would i have to change the password in ALL of the BE services or just a particular one?
