Can anyone tell me if Backup Exec 9 supports backing up to a file that we can then put onto a DVD?

Also does anyone have any opinions about good or bad points of backing up to DVD instead of tape?

Thanks.

yes it will work, but it needs to be a DVD RW disk, a DVDR will not work, as the backup needs to write markers and then delete them all the time.

What you need to do is setup a removable backup to disk folder and point it to the DVD drive.

The only bad points about a DVD is that it will be slower than tape, holds less data, and they can easily be scratched, thus the chance of data loss compared to tape is high.
