Backup Exec 9.0 4454 laptops unable to connect

I finally got BE9 4454 installed and working. The problem is our laptops. They are all in the office, on our local domain. I placed them onto the domain because of all the authentication problems. All my desktop clients work fine (as far as I can tell) but the laptops do not. I literally test them one minute, and 10 minutes later they are unable to connect when I test them again. If I go to the laptop, log in and check something, the backups then test fine. Is there something different about laptops? All my systems are running XP SP2, the laptops are not hibernating, are hardwired to the local LAN, on the domain, etc.... Any ideas?
 
Forgot to mention - server is Windows Server 2003, only backing up to disk.
