Ever since reinstalling BE 8.0 onto a new server, the verify process only verifies part of the backup, then fails. I'm using a 4 tape Sony ATI autoloader. The error say's no storage meda? These tapes stay in the autoload all week. The backup works fine. I also have other jobs that go to DAT tape drives that work fine. Only jobs going to the ATI autoloader fail.

I'll change it to overwrite and try that tonight. But I don't see how that would effect the verify process?

What tape capacity are you using? How many slots in the lib? Almost sounds like the tapes are all ejecting so you can't verify.

Maybe the lib is looking for another tape at the end and is ejecting the lot?

It's a 4 slot autoloader. The tapes are 50GB compressed. It does seem like it's trying to eject. I've tried 4 new tapes and they did the same thing.

Hi, I have recently taken responsibility for the backup process and have a problem. We currently have BE V8.5 on Win 2K and have what appears to be the the same Sony AIT 4 Slot Autoloader(Installed in a Case).

We have connected the Drive to the internal SCSI cable within the case (Which Loops in and then back out) and from one of these connectors on the rear to the server running Backup Exec.

We just cannot seem to get this thing working, Firstly does the Other connector on the Casing need to be terminated?

Any Help?? Please

John

We use a TSL-A300C which is equiped with internal termination. Termination requirements very depending on which model you have. We did not have to terminate ours. Ours is the external model. The product documentation should explain how to terminate yours if it's required. The issue i originally had was solved by adding a dedicated scsi card for the autoloader only. If you want to get rid of yours, let me know.

Craig,

Ours is a TSL-A500C... Jobs seem to be "Pending" all the time and I have to Cancel them..

Any where you could point me to, to help with documentation etc?

Cheers in Advance,

John

I had to say. First, I would check event viewer for tape device errors.
On our server it takes forever for a job to release once it's been aborted. You may have rebooted the server before a job was actually released. In that case you might want to stop the BE services and clean up your temp files on the server, then restart the server.

Good Luck,

Craig
