Backup Exec 8.6 + Snap Server = BE Service crash

Hi! I just have a quick, hopefully simple question. We're migrating from an NT4.0 server (which holds the data and runs backup exec) to a new 2003 Domain where the data will be stored on a snap server and BE will run on a 2K3 box. During the migration, I'd like to move the data to the snap without switching domains yet.

Here's the problem...

The NT 4.0 box doesn't like the snap server. Well, let me rephrase that. The BE 8.6 on the NT box doesn't like the snap server. Every time I try to connect to it through a user-defined share, it crashes the Backup Exec Job Engine service and a drwtsn pops up from bengine.exe.

The new 2K3 box will be running BE10 which works (sort of). It connects after a 20 second delay, but it does backup files and can browse the directories, so I know it can be done. Any suggestions on getting it to run with the 8.6 version? I've been going through Veritas's web site and I'm starting to read the same articles for the 4th time around...

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
