Backup exec 8.6 running on Win server 2000

Hello all,I have backup exec 8.6 running on win server 2000, also on the server is exchange 5.5, what i want to know is what do I back up in backup exec to backup just exchange emails, or do I have to backup mailboxes as well.
Thank you
Also i have read there is a exploit with 8.6 and you have to block port 10000 to close any potential exploit risk??
