I have Backup Exec 8.5 running for over a year on NT 4.0 servers and a Compaq Storageworks DLT. On two different occasions I notice my restore list just stop showing the latest restore selections to choose from. I fixed it last time ( 4 months ago ) by cataloging my tapes and all was well. However I noticed today I could not list any of the restore selections from last night or the night before. The jobs ran on each server and the logs show all items complete but no entry in the restore selections. Anybody have an idea why this happens ? I saw a hotfix listed on the veritas site addressing slow operations and spanned backups not showing up but it was for a defined build / version later than mine.
I have 4 seperate installs running on 4 seperate servers and execview running on one of them. Execview and the storageworks drives is the only common thing and all 4 systems share the same problem.
Thanks in advance

I have had to 'retire' some of my backup tapes and then go into the catalogs directory on the backup exec. and then delete the entry. Sounds to me like your catalog directory is full and it cannot hold anymore catalogs. I make a copy of the tape id. then move the tape into the retired status in the media view on backup exec. then I delete the catalog. If you should have to do a restore from that tape, you of course would have to move it from retired status, catalog it again. This might work for ya. Blonde s-)
