while running be 8.0 and 8.5 on a windows nt 4.0 dell poweredge 1300 server, the system inexplicably crashes at any given time during a running backup, or the machine will lock up even if the be program isn't even running. are there any issues that anyone happens to know about that might cause this to occur? once i uninstall be, the server returns to its normal state with no crashes or lockups. does backup exec conflic with any known software? the 2 biggest concerns on my server would be trend micros server protect anti virus program and iis which is running on my nt box. please advise...thank you

backup exec 8.5 crashes nt 4.0 server!! please help

Make sure you stop any software that might interfere with a backup. Make sure you stop the services as well. Anti Virus software should not run during a backup.
I would stop all non essential services and then run a backup. Then start one service after the other, with a backup in between, to find out which service is the culprid.
If you have determined which service is causing the problem, you can use the pre and post command in backup exec to stop and start that service.
