backup exec 10d roll back

Demoted a Windows 2003 Server to make it a member server off another domain. Forgot to uninstall BE 10d so after demotion BE would not work. Realised that the login account was now invalid so tried to change it to a local account on the server. This would not work inspite of passwords being OK. I thought - lets remove backup exec and reinstall it. - Big mistake ! Now when I try to reinstall the installation trys and towards the end rolls back and says no changes have been made.
I suspect that a setting has been saved from the original istallation somewhere .
Somebody hopefully has a solution to the problem.

Did you rename the server?

Try using the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. This should remove some of the leftover settings that aren't always removed during a normal uninstall:
