I'm currently running BE 10D on Windows 2003 Standard. I have a HP ML6030 robotic library that I use for backups. Here's the problems. I had to remove some of the bar codes from the new LTO2 media that I received because of duplicate bar codes. Anyway I ran Label media to formate and label the media which works fine. "But" when I remove and reinsert the media that I just formated it comes up as <UNKNOWN MEDIA>.. What is up with this. Please help!!!!!!!

I use the same config : windows 2003 standard, BE 10d, MSL 6030 and LTO2. It is the first install. BE 10d sees my librairy and all bar codes of my LT02... But initialize, analyze or inventory, I still get UNKNOWN MEDIA !!! Any idea please ????

Are the tapes LTO2 tapes? Are they compatible with your tape drives? I have a Dell PowerVault 136T that uses HP drives (LTO). I found out that not all LTO tapes are created equal and have to specifically ask if the tapes are compatible with HP drives.

Yes the tapes are LTO tapes ans are compatible. The librairy is connected to a HP proliant server. I also checked the cabling behind the librairy and things are well connected (I checked with the user's guide).

Have you setup the barcode rules under tools -options media management?

Yes the barcode rules have been setup.
Today, with the HP LTT tool, I did the LTO Drive Assessment test that failed. It said "there was a problem loading the tape". I checked the device in Windows Device Manager and saw that the HP Ultrium 2-SCSI SCSI Sequential Device got a yellow question mark ... In the event viewer, there was a backupexec error telling there is a device error "device config error" ... HP told me to upgrade the firmware; what I did but still got the same problem ... I was wondering if that is due to the unknown driver or a problem with the autoloader or both ...

Did you make sure that you loaded BOTH drivers for the Autoloader? There is a driver for the actuial LTO-2 tape drive AND the Autoloader. If you missed the one for the drive you will be able to see the tapes and move them around but not much else.

The autoloader has been changed and the problem is still there "Media Unkown" with BE ...
HP still maintains there is no driver for Windows 2003 and choosing BE using their drivers during the install is enough ... Can you tell me where to find the driver ? Thanks ...
