backup error

I have a real problem to backup a Win98 system. In fact, I just want to backup a directory of this system. And always, in the report, I can read many times the advertissment: File damage. I just want to save about 1Mo and after twenties minutes, backup exec stop and only one pou cent is backuped with errors.
I have another win98 systems and I have no problem with them.
Could someone help me?
