We use a Sonicwall XPRS2 security applicance.

Our ISP is connected to the wan link, the lan link is connected to a switch, and our email server is connected to our DMZ zone

On our lan, we are running NT Server 4.0 with an attached HP backup tape device. We are currently licensed for Arcserve 6.6 - Workgroup Edition.

Is it possible to backup the email server from the DMZ zone to our lan server ? If this is possible, please provide possible solutions and/or point me to appropriate links where I may locate this info

Thanks in advance for all comments and help

We currently use Arcserve 2000 to backup servers in a DMZ outside a Checkpoint FW-1 firewall. We installed an Arcserve backup agent on the server (Open File Agent for mail servers unless you shut down mail applications on server)and opened ports TCP:6050, TCP 6051, UDP:6051 from the backup server to the client (one way only). We feel secure since the connection can only be opened from inside the FW, and only those ports are open. Additionally, the FW protects the DMZ itself (It's on an isolated subnet).
