Can anyone recommand a tape drive and format?

My total drive is 36 gig

the data that we are backing up is approx. 5 gig and we are running incrementals and globals?

thank you

DAT or DLT are the most common formats. Also Exabyte (I think).

DAT is probably most suitably for your need.

Agree DAT and DLT are the most common formats.

Have had some Exabyte issues, so I would recommned something like a Quantum / ATL DLT unit or loader if you need multivolums.

DLT4 will support 40gb uncompresed on 1 tape. and SDLT will support 60gb uncompressed.

Does anyone of you recommend excellent backup software? I'm looking at Veritas Netbackup, CA BrightStor and Arkeia as possible candidates. I'm using RH 7.1 with Oracle database.

I'm looking for reliable and easy to use with good GUI interface.

Thanks,
T

I've heard good things about Arkeia (and tried it myself) but I don't think you'll find someone that will really support it. (I mean not like if you bought TSM ;-) )
