Hi all, my current network is running on a dedicated T1 with backup DSL for a few machines (load balancing). In my pessimistic thoughts, I imagined these scenarios: one day the T1 may go down, Dual-LAN router may go down (kill both connections), terminal services stop working or switch might break down, etc etc... So here is what I am thinking and would this be possible...

Connect a standard rj11 cable to my domain controller's modem, and make it so that if my broadband/high speed connections are offline, at least I would able to use regular Dialup to remote into my server and see what's going on (sort of like MS Terminal Services but direct dialup into a machine).

I know about RAS but I'm not sure if that's my best option?
Can anyone shed some light on this dilemma? I'm trying to be proactive, so this is how the idea came up.

Wow haven't used a modem connection in years... you can go with RRAS but you can also consider installing a remote control software package (PCAnywhere, Remotely Possible)and setup dialup. Though I would recommend you not use your DC for this. I would setup the modem on a workstation and then connect to my DC once dialed in.

Workstation is better, i agree. The optimal plan would be to setup a workstation that is heavily locked down and is on 24/7. Upon establishing a dialup connection, i would have a hidden path for a remote login to a server to see what's going on. However, the question is, what am I to setup if I want this standalone workstation to receive incoming connections and not rely on my current high speed broadband?
