Is there a way to set up a backup calling group that will ring all phones in that group at the same time to back up the operator.
I have a site that the Recetionist is out sick. So, They are wanting 3 people to cover the calls while she is out. They, however , have other jobs too, which require them to be up and down from there desks throughout the day. So if all the phones in that group would ring at the same time whoever is in their office at the time could get the call.
TIA
Todd

I was hoping for at least a "no it can't be done".
Any ideas at all??

Well, I hate QCC's, but in answer to your question, yes you can assign a calling group to take the calls when all of the QCC positions are in "Position Busy". However, a calling group does not ring simultaneously, but hunts either linear or circular.

Operator->QueuedCall->More->QCC Backup->[Calling Group Number]->Enter

You could assign a couple of T/R ports as the Calling Group, route them back to a couple of line ports, then assign those "lines" as personal lines to your back up people.

I don't care for them either. I had even considered changing it to a DLC, but they are resisting it.
That is a very creative solution using the T/R ports and routing them back to trunk ports.
Thanks,
Todd

You can also create a phantom from an unused adjunct port and make it the only member of that group, then place shared system access buttons on the sets needing to back up the QCC and assign ring to those keys. They'll all ring and they'll all know it's a operator call.

Good tip 392. I haved used this setup for operator backup at several sites in the past and it works well.
